You must know about Hitv, a digital satellite entertainment provider which offers to Nigerian subscribers, an array of special satellite tv stations.
Hitv is the alternative to Multichoice's DSTV which is also a very popular Satellite Tv provider.
Hitv has been there for some time now and currently they are requesting their customers to upgrade their decoder software ASAP before the end of Januray.
Here's the complete story;

NOTE: The procedure BELOW is only valid for decoders already on 2.0.7 software.

1. Download the software into a flash drive (USB) by clicking on this LINK

2. Insert the flash drive into USB port of the decoder (beside the smartcard slot) after it has been powered on

3. Press Menu on your remote control, scroll down to installation and press OK

4. Enter the pin code (0000)

5. Scroll down to Transfer and press OK

6. From the options displayed, scroll down to USB upgrade and click on it

7. Select “HITV_upgrade_V2.0.11” software,

8. Click the blue button on the lower part of your remote control to transfer the file from the USB to STB and press OK

9. Wait for it to complete the process, and reboot by itself.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE UPGRADE PROCESS MUST NOT BE INTERRUPTED WHEN ONGOING.

Quick steps to Scan your STRONG branded decoder

STEP 1: PRESS MENU ON YOUR REMOTE CONTROL

STEP 2: CLICK OK ON INSTALLATION

STEP 3: ENTER THE PIN CODE (0000)

STEP 4: SCROLL DOWN TO MANUAL SCAN AND PRESS OK

STEP 5: CHECK THAT THE SATELLITE IS EUTELSAT W4

STEP 6: SCROLL DOWN TO FREQUENCY

STEP 7: USE THE ARROW RIGHT BUTTON TO SEARCH FOR FREQUENCY 11900

STEP 8: ENTER ANY NUMBER ON THE REMOTE CONTROL

STEP 9 IN THE BOX THAT APPEARS, SCROLL DOWN TO EDIT AND PRESS OK

STEP 10: ENTER THE NUMBERS 12092 ON FREQUENCY

STEP 11: SCROLL DOWN TO SYMBOL RATE AND ENTER THE NUMBERS 27500

STEP 12: SCROLL DOWN TO POLARIZATION AND USE THE ARROW RIGHT OR LEFT BUTTON TO CHANGE IT TO ‘H’

STEP 13: PRESS OK TO SAVE AND SCAN

    I am having a problem with my decode. Is shows no channels after i run the installation and it has rebooted. What should I do. It was working until i tried upgrading it as they announced

    You may still need to upgrade it to 2.0.11 or something. I think you just upgrade to 2.0.7. Anyway after upgrading to 2.0.11, then try to check for the system information. If it has changed to 2.0.11, then you can change the channels. It will load up

    I have not upgraded my decoder and there are no money on it at the moment.I want to pay on it now and watch the next champion league matches before upgrading because I dont want disappointment.Will my decoder be reactivated to watch the matches if I pay before upgrading?

    I believe you can always upgrade after payment. But the initial deadline was January. It you are going to do any upgrade now, best thing is to inform them at their office where you can also pay so as not to cause any delays on your subscription

    Is your decoder on 2.0.5 software. To check, just go to Menu->System information. If it is on 2.0.5 then you need to upgrade it to 2.0.7 first by downloading this "http://www.hitv.com.ng/downloads/HITV_upgrade_V2.0.7.rs232">upgrade. After that, you can use the steps above to get it to the correct version. If you are still not satisfied, you can call HITV customer service

    i downloaded the software and upgraded as instructed, but now my decoder is misbehaving with all sorts of problems ranging from, not able to descrable anymore unless i remove the smartcard & insert back (like 5times) each time there is power failure. a...lways checking upgrade each time it is powered & cannot work unless u press MENU to reboot d decoder......hw long shall i continue with this trash????? my card no: 01710161597.
