Do you have an ATM card already? Are you interested in buying online but don't have a credit card? Chances are that your ATM card is actually e-commerce friendly and you could use it to buy goods and services even if it was issued by a Nigerian bank.

Several years ago, when the Nigerian credit card was first launched, there was a lot of negativity about its acceptance by online merchants and websites and those challenges were real too. Not all merchants found it easy to accept credit cards with a Nigerian billing address even if it was branded by Mastercard or VISA. The good news however is that credit cards from Nigeria are already popular and accepted worldwide, not just on websites but also on global ATM machines. Well enough about those credit cards which were mostly denominated in US dollars. The great news now is that with the growth of card technology and usage in Nigeria, it appears that Nigerians are the highest online spenders in Africa since a lot of online payments have been made from Nigeria. That is just for dollar denominated credit cards.
Now, you could also use your ATM cards to shop online although not veryone knows about this yet. Does your ATM card carry a Mastercard or VISA logo? Then you could use it to shop online and pay for various services on the internet, even if the card is tied to a Naira account. Naira ATM cards with the Visa and Mastercard logo can be used to pay for items online and have become more accepted across the world since they are mostly cash backed.

What you could use your ATM CARD for
- Paying for school fees or professional fees in foreign institutions via the web
- Paying for domains names and web hosting
- Sending money online using online payment services like Alertpay
- Making online payment for subscriptions
- Allows you to access services on the internet like never before
- Make withdrawals from global ATM machines
- Make POS payments

    You will need to get a token in order to start using your gtbank mastercard on the internet. You can get it from your bank and I think it costs about N3000
