The former Libyan ruler is dead after several weeks of struggle between his supporters who were only shrinking in number and the rebels with the popular support of the people. It was a political revolution that came into Libya after a series of similar revolts in Arab nations like Tunisia and Libya.
It goes to show how things happen and changes can occur in a nation when there has been popular opinion about it. It didn't start as a violent campaign but as Gadaffi began attacking his own people and killing them with planes, it took a dramatic step as the UN supported no fly zones which saw the military in Libya lose air power. Now the ground game didn't favour the army except for a while as the people and rebels soon took over Tripoli - Libya's capital. Gadaffi finally escaped and went to a neighbouring city where he had some support and still didn't want to give up or leave the country. He swore he would rather die a martyr. However reports flying in yesterday showed that he had been caught alive after narrowly escaping a bomb attack on his convoy. He was later shot in the head and died. Videos of his capture and dead body are already in the news across the world. They say the voice of the people is the voice of God. I like the way Mubarak resigned honourably and accepted to go to trial after a peaceful Egyptian revolution. One would have wished that Gadaffi would have just stepped aside or at least fled the country rather than fight his own people It is significant to note that Gadaffi was taken out of office in a similar way in which he entered office i.e. violently but the people didn't start the violence.
