RE: PASTORS AT WAR!
My attention has been drown to your Vanguard publication of Saturday January, 10th/2009 with the caption "PASTORS AT WAR".!
I suggest that the caption should have been REV. OKOTIE AT WAR! Since I read the said publication, I have been trying hard to restrain myself from commenting on it but, the more I try, the more I become worried in the spirit. I have neither met Rev. Okotie nor Pastor T.B. Joshua before but, I have watched their programme on air. In the said interview granted by Rev. Okotie, he raised several issues which, with due respect, I want him to provide answers to the questions below. Mark you, I remain neutral.
With the title knowledge I have in the Christian faith, I hereby remind him about the following points.
1. Rev. Okotie said that, Pastor T.B Joshua should have not be honoured with the National Award. Then, what made other Christian religious leader honoured more qualified than Pastor T.B. Joshua? What have they done for this country that Pastor T.B. Joshua have not done?
2. That Yar, Adua should apologies to the church. Has Yar, Adua stolen the church money to bestow the award on pastor T.B. Joshua
3. That Pastor T.B. Joshua is a cultist. Has Rev. Okotie ever met with Pastor T.B Joshua in a cult meeting before? Read matt. 7:1-3.
4. That pastor T.B. Joshua call himself Emmanuel. I ask Rev. Okotie, what about the people giving the name Emmanuel to their children? Or when somebody called himself Jesus of Oyingbo what did Rev. Okotie say? Nothing.
5. That pastor T.B. Joshua is from agrarian community. What has being a native of agricultural community got to do with celestial issue? Or has rev. Okotie not heard that the whole world is returning to agriculture?
6. That pastor T.B. Joshua is hardly educated to do anything else. What dose Rev. Okotie wants Pastor T.B. Joshua to do outside the ministry? He should go into business or what? What has much education, big certificate and big, big grammar got to do with divine calling? Was Jesus Christ educated? But he did great works than those who were educated.
7. That Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor wrote to them to confront Pastor T.B. Joshua to stop his T.V programme because Pastor T.B. Joshua is a danger to the stability of the church. Danger in what sense? Even right from the beginning of the Christian faith, has there been stability? If there is, why are churches breaking away here and there?
8. That for Pastor T.B. Joshua to bear Emmanuel, he is a treat to the nation. How? You mean through the name he will instigate the military to over throw the government?
9. That recently they were involved in a major palaver with Pastor Joshua. In what area are you talking about I guess because, Pastor T.B. Joshua is not remitting part of his tithe and offering to P.F.N. or did Pastor Joshua follow to misappropriate the money brought to P.F.N by a foreign evangelist for a crusade in Nigeria?
10. That the former EFCC Chairman was humiliated. I ask, by who? The former chairman humiliated himself because he fill he is bigger than Nigeria. He was given more than enough opportunity to defend himself before the police service commission but he refused. He thought his father Obasanjo is still in power. By the way, why is Rev. Okotie delving from celestial issue to political matters?
11. That Nigerian should not look-up to this government because; it is only God that can salvage this country. If Rev. Okotie knew this truth, why did he nurse the ambition of ruling this country?
12. That Pastor T.B. Joshua use unorthodox method to sham people. Yes, you are not the only one alleging this? The same allegation was made against Jesus Christ that he is using evil powers to heal people.
13. That Pastor T.B. Joshua is from a Muslim background yes. Do you know that men and women of God from Muslim background are stronger in the faith than those brought up from Christian homes?
14. That Pastor T.B. Joshua said miracle followed his birth. Yes, so also miracle followed the birth of Jesus Christ and what is the crime in it? If he has only use one of his seven powers, then Nigerians are waiting for the manifestation of the rest.
15. Rev. Okotie said Pastor Christ Oyakuhilome secretly join Pastor T.B. Joshua's movement. What is the crime there? Are they your house boys that can no longer have freedom of association and worship?
16. That Pastor Christ Oyakhilome received money from Pastor Joshua to buy T.V. air time. I ask, is the money belonging to Rev. Okotie or what? Pastor Chris can get money from anywhere. Why is Rev. Okotie abandoning his responsibility to his congregation and be monitoring Pastor Joshua and Chris. Like the way the devil monitors the children of God for Christ sake?
17. That Yar, Adua have no right to determine who receives an award in the body of Christ. May I ask, is the earthly body of Christ in Nigeria not under the authority of Yar, Adua or is the ward not the property of the government?
18. That Yar, Adua veer from state matters to celestial issue and what is the crime there? After all Rev. Okotie veered from celestial issue to political arena OR dose Rev. Okotie not know that if Yar, Adua veer to celestial issues he can easily be influence by celestial spirits and become born again while, he that veer from celestial issues to political to matters can easily be influence by political demons and become the Satan himself?
19. That for giving award to Pastor T.B. Joshua, that the president has position himself against the Lord Jesus Christ. May I ask, has Jesus got anything to do with the government of this world?
20. That the government should have find out from P.F.N before giving an award to Pastor Joshua. Who made P.F.N to take the place of God?
21. That Pastor Joshua is not a statement. Let me ask, the charity work Pastor Joshua is doing for members and non-members of his congregation who among the religious leaders we have in this country have done one quarter of it for their members?
22. That Pastor Joshua is not a politician. So, he should not be recognize by his country or what?
23. That Ayo oritsejafor has written to the religious leaders to stop Pastor Joshua T.V programme. What rights have you? Are you the one paying the bill or is Joshua using P.F.N money to pay the bill? If you consider the programme offensive in the Christian faith, then P.F.N should have move fast to stop the meeting of Homosexuals held in Nigeria sometime ago.
24. That before anyone is honoured, he must be investigated thoroughly, who told you Pastor Joshua was not investigated? His works are there to speak for him.
25. That you don't wait for your colleagues before you speak the truth. Do you know that your colleagues knew there is no basis for condemning Pastor Joshua hence; they refused to speak out while you were away?
26. That Yar, Adua should steer clear of religious matters. If the president steer clear then he is no more the president. Rev. Okotie should know Christianity, Islam and idolatory are all religion. Even if you are referring to Christian religion, then are Christians not under the control of the presient?
On the other hand, Pastor Joshua know very, very well how to classify his detractors. Yes, he called them religious leaders. The religious leaders are the people who detracted and lay a stumbling block on the way of Jesus Christ devine ministry. No wonder Jesus Christ called them hypocrites.
Secondly, religious is different from Christianity. Jesus Christ said, the religious leaders love big, big prefixes to their name in the church. They always lord it over their members who living abject poverty while they live big, instead of the master becoming the servant as Jesus Christ did.
Thirdly, Jesus Christ was not recognized in his own town but outside his town and that is why Yar, Adua who is a Muslim recognized Pastor Joshua good works.
Fourthly, Joshua dose not discuss nor mention peoples names. He mind the ministry work discreetly. Rev. Okotie should know that fighting flesh and blood is not for God. If he knows that Pastor Joshua is using unorthodox powers, then he should get down on his knees and tell Baba God to expose Pastor Joshua instead of him almost going into physical combat with a harmless dove. Read Num. 12:1-12
In effect, my own understanding of the war of throwing stones at Pastor T.B Joshua and Chris Oyakhilome is the pure act of jealousy on the following ground:-
1. they are envious of the attention people pay to these two pastor wherever their programmes are on air.
2. They are envious of the throng of people worshipping there every week. They believe if the crowds were to be for them, they would smile to the bank every week.
3. They believe the number of whites that comes to the synagogue to worship brings much foreign currency to Pastor Joshua.
4. The newly elected president of Ghana is a member and he calls Pastor5 Joshua his mentor. They believe the president will channel all the gold money in Ghana to the synagogue of all nation.
5. The good charity work of Pastor Joshua are very envious let me ask, how many of the religious leaders we have ever celebrated their birth day with the less privilege and the physically challenge? Pastor Joshua did celebrated his with the cripple, the blind, the deaf & dumb giving them wheel chair, bag of rice each, N50,000.00 to the poor for empowerment, help the cripple to carry their beg of rice to the road side, etc. this is a Christ like humility which I have never seen nor any heard one of his persecutor and religious leader done for anybody even Muslim poor were not left out of Pastor T.B. Joshua's birthday gift. Instead of the religious leader helping their poor members, they rather use their poor members tithe and offering to build a high class universities which majority of their members can not afford the fee for their children neither do they give scholarship to the children of the poor in their congregation to study there. But the children of the political class who have stolen more than enough money are educating their wards in the institution the money of the poor built. What an irony in the name of religion? Pastor Joshua have sent some less privilege children to oversea universities to study with all expenses resting on himself. Oh! Marvelous work indeed and who says Pastor Joshua is not a stateman? Pastor Joshua have provided accommodation to widows thrown out by their landlord and provide succor to them and their children. This is no exaggeration.
Finally, I would like to advice Rev. Okotie to watch his back in the mist of his colleagues because, he that instructed other religious leaders to attack Pastor Joshua is like a play scene where a man gathered stones and call his neighboures to start throwing stones at a glass house but he himself will not throw a stone, while the neighbours were wondering about the rational behind the proposed action, the overzealous neighbour among them start throwing the stones. If not for jealousy, hatred and overzealousness why should black pots be calling kettle or stainless plate black in a society where religious leaders and their wife are signatory to the church account turning what they claim belong to God to be their family property. Enough is enough of these religious self arrogation of power and Authority.
