Former kano state governor, Abubakar Rimi has joined the call for Iwu's removal. After many court cases and recently the supreme court sessions that all helped reveal that the 2007 elections were filled with many irregularities and rigging, he i suggesting that Inec should be restructured and that the chairman, Prof. Maurice Iwu should be removed. Really, INEC performed very low below expectations especially by allowing many card carrying memebrs of the ruling PDP to be commissioned as election officials in the controversial elections. If the INEC really wanted free and fair election, they should have appointed people who are not memebers of the PDP. I think it's ok for an official to have his favourite political party, but members of a political party should not be allowed to be the officials who will in the end count the votes, that amounts to structured rigging. I think in the future, inec should employ the hands of people who are neutral and have no political affiliation, but who are determined to do a job objectively. Even 3 supreme court justices agreed that the presidential election was invalid not just based on that but also on the usage of non approved voting platforms, but in the end their opinion did not carry much weight.
