Zimbabwe is one African country whose continued civil temperance has continued to amaze me. The Zim are really patient with their long time President Robert Mugabe who has continued to snob the West and it's policies and has refused to step down as president even with the recent victories of the opposition party, the MDC.
Zims seem to love their leader and appear satisfied with his govt so far. Maybe it's because of the fantasy they have in being made millionaires overnight by the govt which has continued to battle inflation that it crippling the economy by introducing newer currencies, one after the other in higher denominations. Last i heard, they had introduces Z$10 million which was only worth $4 and could not support the average Zimbabwean for up to a week. I think people generally love the idea of being a millionaire or at least carrying a million dollars conveniently in your pockets as you walk the streets. But what could it really buy. Could investors or foreign businesses see any profitability in Zimbabwe inspite of the galloping inflation. I guess the economy of Zim will change for the better when Mugabe leaves. Investors would troop in. I think what Mugabe is doing is to put the power first in the hands of his people before exiting honourably. I think he is really convinced that he's doing the right thing and has no regrets. But the country really needs economic stability at least for the sake of her people.
